The Etymology of Emigration
Muscovite Vladimir Sitnikov, currently residing in Kiel, offered the visual-linguistic mix “Chlorix”. Fragments of washing detergent ad slogans were put on fifteen shirts hung in a row, or the very slogans themselves (the interpretation depends how developed the viewer’s market training is). The visual part is organized in such a way that all the sentences are followed by shots of a monument. These fifteen ads are at the foot of the monument, and on the pedestal stands a naked, perfect hero, sword in hand, bearing a belt that covers his genitals like a fig leaf. You see, one needs to understand that these so-called “advertisement” games are located in what remains of the former Soviet regime. This still shows up in our region in the ironically named form of “living memory”.
